How to Make Rosary Beads

There are many different methods techniques that can be used to make rosary beads. Here you will find useful instructions to help you learn how to make rosaries or learn new rosary making techniques.

Chain Rosaries

To make traditional catholic chain rosaries you can use continuous wire or eye pins. Using eye pins is a good starting point for beginners while you learn the process, but some rosary makers find it easier to start with continuous wire.

Making Rosaries with Eye Pins

Eye pins are a great way to learn the craft of rosary making. Eye pins come in different sizes with one pre-made loop, allowing you to quickly link together the beads of your choice. For beginner we recommend starting with 8mm beads and 16mm eye pins. You can find a range of beads and eye pin sizes and colours in the Rosary Making shop, or you can purchase our Rosary Making Starter Kit which contains everything you need to make your first rosary. You can download our guide to making rosaries with eye pins here

Making Rosaries with Continuous Wire

You can also make chain rosaries without using eye pins, and by using continuous wire instead. This method provides a very strong finish to the rosary. To learn how to use continuous wire you can download our guide here. We offer a range of wire suitable for rosary making. To learn more about choosing wire for rosary beads please see our guide here.

Cord and Strung Rosaries

Cord Rosaries

Cord is another material which can be used to create rosary beads. Cord rosaries can be made with or without beads. Using only cord, you can create 'beads' using knots - which is why this often referred to as a knotted rosary.
